The Advanced Placement (AP) test for college credit is developed by the College Board . This test, three hours long, includes listening and reading comprehension, grammar, essay writing and speaking onto a tape. It is administered in May at a designated high school.
During the past eight years students from our school have continuously participated in AP German exam offered by the College Board. We are preparing high school students over a period on 10 weeeks. Nonetheless, they have continuously scored with high marks, mostly 4's and 5's. (Note: 5 being the highest and 1 the lowest mark, with 1 and 2 not passing.)
Students prepare for the exam by participating in a 10 Saturday preparatory class offered by GASPA solely for this exam. Together with their German teacher the students then travel to a local high school to sit the exam. (During past years the exam was administered at Gunn HS in Palo Alto.)
Passing the AP German exam, as well as three other AP exams, are part of the qualifications required by many German Universities which allows students to forego an extra year at a Studienkolleg.
The prep class for the 2017 AP German German is currently full.
