In this past year our many activities included a visit to the new Zeppelin at the historic Moffett Field hanger, using GPS to find hidden geocaches, and a wonderful bike ride up the Stevens Creek Trail to Shoreline Lake.

Each group is carefully tailored taking into account the age and German experience each student brings with him or her, so that no one feels intimidated or out of place. Even after classes have started changes can be made to make sure everyone will have a good experience.

Students will be engaged through fun projects and experiments, arts and crafts, reading and creating stories, designing board games and tee-shirts, all while learning to read, write, speak, and understand German.

As our team assembles, we are already excited about all the adventures and surprises we have planned for your children this summer. The days and weeks always fly by as we discover all things German!

What's offered in the German summer school camp?

We will play and wade in water (in German), speak (in German), and grow (in German). Throw on a backpack, pull on your skates, stick a pencil and pen in your pocket and come check out what the German summer school camp is all about.

School-age groups

Kids ages 6 to 13 will be divided into groups as mentioned above. At least one teacher and assistant will lead a group of no more than 15 children. Depending on the child's skill level, he or she will read, discover, craft, dance, cook, party, write, translate, invent, and fantasize in an appropriate group for him/her. They will measure, calculate, hammer, glue, saw, and make music. Things will be created, changed, and morphed into something new, then kept or thrown away. Groups often use topics like "pirates", "the theater", "medieval times", or "water, air, earth, and fire" to guide them through their times together.

The children will document what happens in the groups during this time in many different ways and methods, by writing directions, drawing pictures, or creating collages.

Kindergarten groups

12 - 15 children ages 3 - 5 will join one kindergarten teacher and one or two assistants to create their classroom, schedule their time, and follow their desire to learn and discover in- and outdoors. Everyday activities, such as cooking, experimenting, and singing, help them learn and understand German in new and better ways. Every morning the day's planned activities will be introduced and new songs, words, and stories learned and practiced.

And, of course, we never forget that it is summer, that they sky is blue, the weather is warm, the water feels good, and that the sun, shade, and being barefoot are a part of life during the summer.
